I do not live there, but I was a teenager once. I looked for jobs at fast food places, went to catering services to work on weekends at various affairs, I offered to garden for older folks, I offered to babysit for young mothers, I offered to clean house for women who could use it. Offer to tutor young children in math or reading. I know how to sew so I went to fabric places and hobby places as Michael's and Jo Anne's to get a job as stock clerk or checker. Ask your school counselor who hires young people in your community. That is their job. There may be employment services for youths in your community. Check with your community Park and Recreation Department to see if there is summer work as raking or working the lunch counters. Maybe you can pass Red Cross Safety First Aide and CPR Courses to become a lifeguard - or for being a babysitter. Liability insurance and law suits have kept lots of young people out of the work force. Good luck!

The best places to work in Columbus are government-related - those jobs are the most stable, have the best benefits, and the most flexible/reasonable work hours. Depending on your field, many government jobs pay nearly as much as private sector, and in some cases more. State jobs are listed at www.ohio.gov, but also check the Columbus Dispatch ads - not all non-civil-service jobs are on the state site. Also try Ohio State University and Columbus State Community College - they are both going through a lot of growth right now, and have lots of opportunities. Good luck

Most states have a lower limit of 14, and thats with your parents permission.. Check your local Dept of Social Services. They are who issues the work permits and could tell you exactly what you can do... and when...

Most companies will not hire before the age of 16 and really only fast food will hire at 15. Besides babysitting, try newspaper routes, pet sitting, yard work, and ask your neighbors if they need help with anything for $. Good luck!

I reside in Marysville. I work in Columbus. I have to pay local tax to both? I can understand being taxed in one or the other but, not both. I feel the Columbus taxes are taxation without representation since I can't vote on the taxes or how they are used. There has to be a way around some of the taxes or a credit from one to the other. Kroger hires baggers at 15, and some locally owned restaurants will hire bus people at 15...your best bet is to go in person to the nearest grocery stores to where you live and fill out an application, and do the same at nearby restaurants. Most national restaurant and retail chains have company policies to not hire people below 16 because they have to conform to laws in multiple states. Good luck!

The sorts of jobs a 15 year old would qualify for are seldom the ones that they bother listing on the internet. You are going to need to take some initiaitive and GO to the places in your area and ask if they are hiring. Most fast food places and supermarkets are always hiring entry level help.
